Warning About Corsets Jardiničre!
I have some very upsetting news to share with
you about an online business. I must strongly caution everyone against
doing any business with the company, Corsets Jardiničre. The owner of the
company, Lisa Stacy, has not been delivering on orders after receiving payment
for them. This has happened to at least eight people we know of, including
myself.
My story:
I purchased a custom corset pattern from Corsets Jardiničre
on 8/25/05, through her website. I received confirmation of the order, and we
exchanged several e-mails in late August 2005, regarding the details of my
pattern. (She actually wrote to me a couple extra times, as if I were a
completely different person, and I had to remind her of who I was by forwarding
our previous e-mails, so that she would realized she had already responded to
me.)
After a month I still had not received the pattern. I
e-mailed her on 9/27/05 asking about it. She sent her first reply that day where
she stated, “Actually I have it done and plan on mailing it tomorrow.” Then,
on 10/6/05, she e-mailed again as if she hadn’t sent the initial reply
stating, “I have been a way from the computer for several days and unable to
answer emails. Sorry for the delay. Your pattern is done and will ship out
tomorrow.” No pattern arrived. I contacted her again on 10/15/05, 10/22/05,
and then finally on 10/25/05. She did not respond to any of those e-mails. I
have heard nothing from since October 6th. I have not received a pattern from
her. I know she has internet access, because she was active on on a sewing board that I moderate on October 18th, 2005 (which can be seen in her profile under the name "Lovethatdress").
.
Unfortunately, I waited too long to file a complaint with
Paypal. I was giving Lisa the benefit of the doubt, and took her word for it
that the pattern had shipped when she said it would. This is Lisa Stacy's
pattern - she strings people along until their chance for recourse has passed.
So I missed Paypal's deadline while waiting on her false promise. I have
since spoken with a representative from Paypal. He said that even though
the 45 days have past, one should still file a complaint. Even if it from a year
or more ago. Here's why - the complaints (even the late ones, which are called
"deferred complaints") go on the person's record. If Paypal sees
enough of these complaints, even old ones, they will suspend the scammer's
account until they straighten out the previous complaints. In some cases,
that might mean a refund.
Update: Finally,
after filing complaints with Paypal and the IFCC, and after nearly 3 months for
this pattern, it finally arrived on 11/14. There was no note, no explanation, no
apology for making me wait almost three months and making me go through a heap
of hassle, or for ignoring my e-mails. I have not made a muslin yet. I
want to do that soon and make sure she made the pattern to my
measurements. Once I test the pattern and see if it matches the
measurements I gave to her (thank heavens I kept a copy and also included them
in an e-mail I sent to her), I will post a further update. However, even
if the pattern is right, I still urge caution in dealing with Lisa Stacy of
Corsets Jardiničre. I believe I only received the pattern because I made
all of those claims. It should not be that way. I person should not
have to go through all sorts of rigmarole in order to receive what they paid
for. Poor business practices, indeed.
